Many people find Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, which comes under the 'umbrella term' of CBT, to be very helpful and the underlying principle is that it is not the events in peoples' lives that cause emotional disturbance, but rather, the view they take on these. REBT explores a person's underlying core beliefs and helps a client to develop healthy beliefs that are conducive to psychological well-being.
I have an Honours degree in Psychology and in Psychiatric Nursing, and a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Hypnosis for Paediatrics. I worked as a Psychiatric Nurse for ten years. As a hypnotherapist, I work in partnership with my clients to improve their quality of health and life and I have had particular success in working with people who wished to give up smoking, one of whom had smoked for over 30 years. As I have had personal experience of the devastating effect long-term smoking has on people, I feel passionate to help in this area. I have also worked with people who wished to adopt a healthier diet or give up drinking and those who wanted to increase their confidence and self-esteem or deal with anger issues.

I am an accredited therapist for hypertension (high blood pressure) and I can offer the time to explore factors that may aggravate the condition. I have helped people to successfully confront their fears and phobias and I have treated clients with a phobia of flying, birds and needles. I offer the Virtual Gastric Band for people who wish to lose weight without counting calories! I provide a comfortable environment conducive to relaxation and I make appointments to suit my clients, to include evenings and weekends.
